Carpet Care Tips
Prevent Soiling, use walk-off mats
Entrance mats and walk-off mats reduce the amount of soils entering your home. Especially coming in from the garage is important to have mats. Kitchens and dining areas with hard surface floors should also be kept clean to prevent soils and oils to be walked onto the carpeted areas.
Vacuum regularly for removal of dry soils
Vacuuming on a regular basis will help the carpet to stay clean much longer and prevents premature wear and matting. Carpets should be vacuumed at least once a week , more often if there is heavy use ir if you have pets or children. This is one of the most important steps for the overall care of your carpets.
Clean spots and spills immediately
Don’t wait until spill sets before cleaning it up. If not cleaned, spills will penetrate the fibers and will make it harder to remove. Spills also attract soils and will spread causing an overall soiling of your carpets. Use a product like Spot Out , which you can buy from Dyna Clene.
Schedule regular cleaning
Carpet mills are recommending that you have your carpets cleaned at least once a year, more often if you have pets or children. Don’t wait until you have definite visiible traffic areas before having your carpets cleaned.Have your carpets cleaned for your health and not just for appearance. Remember that carpet fibers are damaged by soils in your carpet, and once damaged, can’t be restored to it’s original condition.
Have your carpets treated with a carpet protector treatment after cleaning
We recommend Maxim Advanced™ carpet treatment because unlike other treatments like Scothgard™ and Dupont™ that repels spills, Maxim Advanced™ blocks out liquids from entering the fiber’s dye sites.
