Tips and
Frequently Asked questions
Carpet care tips:
Prevent soiling, use
walk-off mats
Entrance mats and walk-off mats reduce the
amount of soils entering your home. Normally, it takes four steps for mats to catch what
is on the bottom of your shoes. Mats should be kept clean to continue to serve their
purpose.
Vacuum regularly for removal of dry soils
Vacuuming on a regular basis will help the carpet stay clean much longer and prevents
premature wear and matting. Carpets should be vacuumed at least once a week, more
often if heavy use and if you have pets or children.

Clean spots and
spills immediately
Don't wait until a spill sets before cleaning it
up. Spills attract soils and residues will spread causing an overall soiling of your
carpets.
Schedule regular cleaning
Carpet mills are recommending that you have your carpets cleaned at least once a
year. You may have to have it cleaned more often if you have heavy use or if you
have children and / or pets. Carpets should be cleaned every year even if they don't
look soiled. Many soils and contaminants are not removed by dry vacuuming.
Clean your carpets for your health and not just for appearance. Remember that carpet
fiber are damaged by soils in your carpet, and once damaged, cannot be restored.

Your carpets are one of the biggest investments in
your home. It pays to take care of them! Improper use of cleaning agents, improper
temperatures, improper cleaning procedures and over-wetting can damage your carpets.

Frequently asked questions &
before and after cleaning tips
Is it true that once I have my carpets cleaned, they will re-soil
faster thereafter?
No, if the carpet is properly Cleaned.
Actually a properly cleaned carpet will look clean longer and even last longer. It
is a lot easier to keep a carpet looking clean than to neglect it to the point of it
looking soiled and then cleaning it. At that point you have to use stronger cleaners and
more agitation. Improper cleaning, where residues from cleaning agents are left in
the carpet can cause rapid re-soiling. That is why you should use a
trusted cleaning company like Dyna Clene.
Will
you remove all the spots and stains from my carpets?
|Most of your soils and spills
will clean with our regular cleaning. Of course, regular cleaning will not remove
stains caused by color loss or change because of bleach spills, dyes, medications or pet
urine etc. Some carpets can have discoloration because of wear or fading, or color
change from shading, oxidation or other causes.
What if spots reappear after I have my carpets
cleaned?
If we cleaned your carpets for you, you can
relax! Even though some spots or spills of unknown origin will clean off
the face yarns, the backing and padding might be saturated and will cause it to
wick back up to the surface fibers. Even though this rarely happens, if it
does, we will come back and clean the spot again. Remember, Dyna Clene
will give you the best cleaning possible -
it's our guarantee!
Will having my carpets cleaned eliminate
pet odors and pet urine stains?
Cleaning and treating with a deodorizer in itself
will not eliminate pet odors caused by pet urine But we have odor counteractants
& neutralizers that will help control pet odors. Severe pet odor problems may
need extensive treatment. Pet urine can penetrate the carpet backing and padding and
contaminate the floor. It crystallizes when it dries and is activated with humidity,
that's why the odors are stronger in humid weather.
Since pet urine penetrates into the backing and padding, cleaning will not
completely eliminate them. We do not guarantee pet stain and odor
removal with the basic cleaning. Please let us know if
you are having your carpets cleaned to remove pet odors as
this involves extra work and charges.
Do Carpet protector treatments, like
Scotchgard, really help?
Many of the better carpets are treated with stain
resistant treatments and stain blockers. Even with regular use, these protectors
wear off. We recommend re-treating to prevent permanent staining of your carpets.
How long Does it take a carpet to dry after cleaning?

It all depends on the drying conditions .
Under normal drying conditions, It should to the touch in about 4 to 6 hours. We
like to start in a room that will be used first and start the drying process with carpet
dryers. You should avoid walking on your carpets, if possible, until it's dry to the
touch. Arrange to keep children off wet carpets.
What can I do to accelerate the drying?
Good ventilation will do a lot of good, open windows when the weather is good. In
cold weather, turn up the heat and partially open a window to allow humid air to
escape. In warm weather remember that evaporative coolers add moisture to the air,
refrigerated air removes moisture from the air. Use ceiling fans and other fans to
speed up the drying.
What should I do to prepare for getting my carpets
cleaned? (see our 'preparing for cleaning page')
We recommend you pre-vacuum your carpets and remove smaller objects from the floor and the
breakables off of any furniture you want us to move. This will save us time and you
money. We will vacuum under the furniture so you don't have to move the furniture to
vacuum if you don't want to.
If I choose to have my furniture
moved, will you move everything?
We will move all the furniture except those pieces we
consider a high risk, that is in being damaged or that can cause damage to your carpets or
floors. We do not move pianos, grandfather clocks, entertainment centers, large
appliances and china cabinets, bookcases etc. unless they are empty.

Will my furniture stain or rust my carpet?
To avoid this, we use plastic tabs and styrofoam blocks under your
furniture. These tabs and blocks should be left under the furniture overnight.
If you need help in removing them, please let us know.
